Dental Sealants
Patient education is part of a dentist’s job, which is why we’ll teach your child the proper way to brush and floss while they’re at home. It will take time for them to fully develop these skills, of course, but the problem is that harmful oral bacteria can still cause cavities in the meantime. It is thus recommended that dental sealants be placed over the molars (the hard-to-reach teeth near the back of the mouth) so that your child has an extra layer of protection. Dental sealants take minutes to apply, and they can last for several years at a time.
Pulp Therapy
You should always take your child seriously if they tell you they have a toothache. It could mean that they have a dental infection that could lead to tooth loss and negatively impact their oral development in various ways. By performing pulp therapy, we can get rid of the infected tissue within the tooth in question so that the damage doesn’t spread any further. We can then use a crown or another appropriate restoration to rebuild the tooth so that your child can still use it for biting and chewing.
Fluoride Treatments
Your child’s teeth are still developing, which is why it’s important for them to get plenty of fluoride. Normally, they should get enough from drinking tap water or using ADA-approved toothpastes, but we may recommend fluoride treatments to strengthen their enamel further and to protect them from tooth decay. The treatments will not hurt at all, and they can be done in just a few minutes; they’re often performed as part of a routine dental checkup.
Special Needs Dentistry
Certain conditions may require special consideration on our part so that your child receives the care they need while remaining safe and comfortable. Please tell us if your child needs accommodations for a physical, developmental, mental, emotional, behavioral, sensory, or cognitive condition; our team is able to work with many kinds of patients and can take whatever steps are needed to make your little one’s visit a positive, productive one. After all, everybody deserves high-quality dental care no matter what their personal circumstances are.
Athletic Mouthguards
For any kind of sport, even low-contact ones, your child should be wearing a mouthguard to keep their teeth safe. If they get hit in the face or mouth, the mouthguard will shield the teeth from the forces that could potentially damage them. Our mouthguards are custom-made, so they offer better protection than the oral appliances that you might find at the store. They are also more comfortable, so children are less likely to “forget” to wear them.
